Overview
Letter Counter (letter-counter.com) is a free, browser-based text analysis tool. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how we use it.
What we collect
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics — privacy-friendly systems that do not use cookies and do not collect personal data. Analytics events may include:
- Page URL and referrer
- Browser type and device type (e.g., mobile vs. desktop)
- Country of origin, derived from your IP address — the IP itself is not stored or logged
This data is aggregated and anonymized. No individual visitor can be identified from it.
What we do not collect
- Your text. Everything you type into the counter runs entirely in your browser. No text is ever transmitted to our servers.
- Tracking cookies. Our analytics are cookieless; Letter Counter sets no first-party tracking cookies and uses no local tracking identifiers. (If advertising is introduced — see below — ad partners may set their own cookies.)
- Personal information. We collect no names, email addresses, account credentials, or any personally identifiable information.
- Payment data. Letter Counter is free and collects no payment information.
Third-party services
Letter Counter is hosted on Vercel. Vercel's analytics system processes the anonymized usage data described above in accordance with Vercel's own privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Advertising
Letter Counter does not currently display advertising. If ads are introduced in the future, they will be served by Google AdSense or a similar network, whose partners may set their own cookies to serve relevant ads. This policy will be updated to describe them before any ads appear, and you will be able to opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.
Data retention
We do not store user data on our own servers. Anonymized analytics data retained by Vercel is governed by Vercel's data retention policy.
Your rights
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions about the anonymized analytics data held by Vercel, you may contact Vercel directly via their privacy policy page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Letter Counter after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
